Our Mission:
Aurora Tutoring is a free online tutoring platform dedicated to providing academic support to elementary and middle school students who need it, especially in the current difficult learning setting of virtual school, due to COVID-19.
Our Tutors:
All Aurora Tutors are MCPS high school students, who are passionate and educated about the subject for which they tutor. They are all generous volunteers, who earn SSL hours for their quality service, and they are trained by MCPS to recognize and report child abuse and neglect to ensure the safety of our tutees.
Founder(s):
My name is Emily Hsu and I'm the founder of Aurora Tutoring. I'm currently a Junior ('22) at Walter Johnson High School. I started this platform as a way to give to my community. As a student at Tzu Chi Academy, I have learned that it's important to give to those in need and that this giving is mutually beneficial. The tutors at Aurora Tutoring and I are happy and grateful to help the students in our community that are impacted by the pandemic. I understand that it's a difficult time, but we can all work through this together.
Hi all! I am Amy, a student at Walter Johnson HS and a founder of Aurora Tutoring. As a student tutor at Kumon and a volunteer at the public library, I recognize the great value that education has on a child's growth and development. I truly believe that given the right support and opportunities anyone can achieve bigger things and transform the world into a more beautiful place. So, let's work together and provide all MoCo students with the support they need during this difficult time.
